These acronyms stand for Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM), and represent the flexibility of the partnership agreements that typically govern relationships between manufacturers and EMS providers. Outsourcing by manufacturers to EMS providers can in fact be managed with the following types of arrangement:design totally handled by the customer (OEM), in other words the manufacturer assigns production to the EMS provider based on its own specifications;design managed by the partner companies together (JDM), i.e. joint development manufacturing;design completely assigned by the customer to the EMS, under an ODM agreement. Equadro has experience in past and present projects with all these types of partnerships, demonstrating the flexibility of the company’s approach, the quality of the departments involved, and above all the quality of relationships as regards protection of intellectual property. This latter aspect currently represents, in an international context, the strategic parameter that manufacturers must consider when contacting an EMS provider, assessing the direct, indirect, updated and concealed costs in selecting a partner and deciding the type of outsourcing agreement. Equadro seamlessly manages various types of projects for competing international manufacturers, projects on behalf of international manufacturers for localisation in EMEA markets, and projects for small and medium companies with in-depth market knowledge, which are expedited and distributed worldwide by international partnership networks. Equadro can offer such partnership conditions due to the quality of its research & development and above all as it does not operate its own direct sales network, having created a structure that focuses on manufacturing for companies with their own networks.
